Sunday afternoon, August 5th, 2012 is the date. Lunenburg is the town. The War Memorial Arena is the place. Doors open at noon. Tickets bought on site: $5 for adults, children free. Door prizes drawn at 1pm and 2pm followed by the Auction. Live music all day. Tasty food. No pets please.
Schedule:
Making your choice:
by Ransford Naugler
Attached to each carving, painting or hooked rug is a five-part "ticket." When you decide on a piece, the artist will tear off the bottom four tickets, leaving only the top portion still attached to the folk art.
Know that when you remove tickets, you make a commitment - a contract - with the artist. If tickets are removed but not redeemed, artists suffer loss of sale.
After making your selections, take the tickets to the cashier who, after payment, will give you two tickets for each item purchased. One is your receipt; the other is to present to the artist to collect your piece.
No pets please
Except for service animals, no pets are allowed inside the Arena.
Door prizes:
At 1pm and again at 2pm, the Arena becomes eerily quiet. Why? Because drawings for the 30-plus door prizes are about to take place.
Winners must be present.
Auction
The auction begins shortly after 2pm. Take a seat and enjoy what is always a lively and, sometimes, suspenseful half hour. The folk art
to be auctioned is displayed on tables by the stage. Take a look and be ready to bid!
