General Information
The Nova Scotia Folk Art Festival will be celebrating their 20th anniversary on Sunday August 3rd, 2008. As every year, for the past 19, the doors will open for the show and sale at 12 noon. In addition, join artists, collectors, the curious and the devoted at special events and workshops during the same afternoon. Keep in touch over our website for the schedule of events.
Sponsored by the Lunenburg Heritage Society with the support of the Nova Scotia Folk Art Society, this juried event has a fine and well-earned reputation as a premier festival showcasing and selling the work of our best Nova Scotia folk artists.
The atmosphere at the Festival
is electric! Colourful art is everywhere, accented by the bright sounds
of fiddle music, the auctioneers banter, door prize draws and the enthusiasm
of browsers and buyers.
What is Folk Art? Inspired by the colour
and life around us, these sculptured creations, brightly painted carvings,
paintings and hooked rugs conspire to engage the heart as well as the
eye. The popular Folk Art Posters, featuring an original work from past
festivals, are also for sale and have become collectors pieces themselves.
